Rare Junghans “Pneuora” Pneumatic master clock, model type 198, circa 1930s, 9” diameter, silvered dial with Arabic numerals, signed 'Ingersoll Electronome', the striking train with four hammers that chimes four tuned steel rods on the hour and half hour, in a wooden veneered case, 22.5" high, 12.5" wide, depth 4.5" (the dial has been removed from the clock to show off the mechanism) ** With a separate Auto Pneumatic slave clock by H. Letorey of Paris, in a pressed metal brass case with bevelled glass and white enamelled Arabic numeral chapter ring, with blued steel hands 8" diameter ** Christie's ex lot 62, 3 October 2001 ** This model was listed for sale in the Junghans 1930 catalogue under the brand name of “Elektronom” ** The Type 198 master clock is the largest in terms of compressor lamp capacity in the Elektronom range with ample capacity to drive six pneumatic slaves as well as operate its own remontoire. As well as this one minute pneumatic output to local secondary clocks, an electrical pulse output is also provided to drive remote secondary clocks that have their own compressor ** From the David Read Collection
