RARE GNATHIAN HYDRIA WITH FLOWER DECORATION

Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A black-glazed terracotta hydria with an inverted pear-shaped body on a stemmed foot, a tall cylindrical neck and a broad, everted rim. Two horizontal loop handles are attached to the shoulders, with a vertical handle joining the neck to the upper body. The neck is decorated with a painted wreath of stylised flowers and foliage, and the rim with a band of short vertical strokes.
