Ralf Altrieth - Donne-moi ta main - XXL

Ralf Altrieth draws and paints here with great spontaneity. The shapes are deliberately simple, the outlines direct, the colors bold, as if the figures had been discovered rather than invented. Behind this apparent simplicity hides a true sense of rhythm: the figures respond to each other, overlap, or seem to float around one another. The imaginary figures give the whole a poetic, almost dreamlike dimension. There is something joyful and slightly offbeat in the composition, which leaves the viewer with a great freedom of interpretation. The work exudes a particularly warm presence. It attracts with its colors and its immediately recognizable figures, then holds the gaze with its inventiveness and its small details. In a contemporary interior, they bring a free, playful and poetic artistic note, without ever losing the singular gesture of Ralf Altrieth. From the cauldron of improvisation, he conjures up an untouched world of spontaneous joys and strong impulses." — Dr. Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director "His gesture- and color-driven writing describes a world open to new voices and experiments never tried.
