White light, nothing else, bright shine alone seems to form the bracelet here. For even though it is of course forged from solid, bright platinum: it is so densely set with diamonds that hardly anything other than light cast into shape seems to adorn the wrist. The bracelet gathers around 29.10 ct of white diamonds in old brilliant cuts or baguette cuts and of selected, good quality. The center of the design is occupied by a large solitaire of 1.47 ct. To the right and to the left, diamond baguettes seem to hold it, as if it were the spike of a shiny clasp.... Next, numerous brilliant cut diamonds are set close together, framed by more diamond baguettes, until the design again freely varies the motif of the clasp, held by bars of diamond baguettes. The design of the bracelet is typical of the early 1930s. The shapes of jewellery became increasingly sculptural and powerful in those years, and clasps and bands were particularly popular motifs. It may be coincidental that this shift away from the finer, more ethereal formers of early Art Deco coincides with the Wall Street stock market crash of 1929 - but perhaps this new style offered the promise of stability in an era that had become uncertain all at once. We discovered the bracelet in Vienna. It is accompanied by an independent appraisal that confirmed the quality of the diamonds.
