1. TECHNICAL DATA Author: Anonymous School: French Impressionist School Era: Second half of the 20th century Technique: Oil on canvas mounted on hard board / canvas-backed board Title/Measurements of the work: 32 x 22 cm Dimensions with frame: 40 x 30 cm Theme: Snowy urban landscape Signature: No signature visible in the available photographs Support: Canvas attached to hard board Condition: Good overall state of conservation, with slight signs of aging and small surface alterations consistent with the technique and support. It is recommended to consult the photographs in detail, which form an integral part of the description. 2. DESCRIPTION Interesting winter urban landscape painted in oil on canvas-backed board, belonging to the French Impressionist tradition of the second half of the 20th century. The composition represents an elevated view of rooftops and buildings covered in snow, with a tower or architectural structure emerging in the upper plane and acting as the vertical axis of the scene. The snow transforms the built landscape through a clear, atmospheric range, smoothing the outlines of the buildings and generating an interesting dialogue between white surfaces, reddish roofs, and blue-gray tones of the environment. The artist avoids meticulous architectural description and favors immediate visual impression, light, and atmosphere. 3. STYLISTIC AND COMPOSITIONAL ANALYSIS The work shows a direct and spontaneous execution, built with visible, brief, and impasted brushstrokes. The palette combines warm whites, bluish grays, ochres, muted pinks, earth tones, and small accents of darker color, creating a cold yet balanced harmony. The landscape is organized through a succession of superimposed planes: in the foreground a wide snowy surface; in the middle plane the roofs and buildings; and in the background the main architecture emerges, partially wrapped in a nebulous atmosphere. The brushstroke, deliberately loose, helps dematerialize the contours and reinforces the sense of moisture, cold, and winter light. The treatment of the snow with thick white touches is one of the most attractive plastic elements of the composition. 4. PSYCHOLOGICAL DIMENSION The scene conveys a sense of silence and seclusion. The absence of human figures and the dominant presence of snow turn the urban landscape into a contemplative space, almost suspended in time. The architecture appears transformed by the atmosphere: buildings cease to function only as descriptive elements and become masses of color and light. The small format additionally reinforces the intimate character of the work, very close to a pictorial study aimed at capturing a concrete atmospheric impression. 5. SIGNATURE AND AUTHORIAL HYPOTHESIS No signature visible in the available photographs. Based on its technical, chromatic, and compositional characteristics, the work is prudently cataloged as French Impressionist School of the second half of the 20th century. The free treatment of painterly material, architectural simplification, and attention given to the effects of light on the snow point to a French landscape tradition inherited from Impressionism and widely developed throughout the 20th century. 6. OTHER DATA OF INTEREST The work stands out especially for its material treatment. The white and gray brushstrokes are applied with considerable freedom on the roofs and snowy surfaces, creating textural contrasts with the more diluted areas of the sky and architecture. The rigid support provides stability to a small-format painting conceived with a rapid and expressive execution. It is presented in an elaborate gilded frame of historicist character, with carved vegetal decoration and scrolls, which greatly enhances its decorative presence. The combination of the small pictorial format and the frame’s ornamental richness yields a set particularly attractive for classic or eclectic interiors. 7. SHIPMENT AND CONDITIONS The work will be packaged by a professional specialized company in a custom-made box with foam protections tailored to the piece’s characteristics. We ship worldwide. Large-format shipments, distant destinations, or countries outside the European Union may incur additional costs. If any extraordinary surcharge exists, it will be borne by the buyer. The frame is considered a gift and will not be subject to complaint. The photographs form an integral part of the description and allow a detailed assessment of the work’s conservation state.
