Plateelbakkerij Deventer - Wall plate - Porcelain - Art Nouveau wall shelf

Groot Hand-Painted Art Nouveau Style Wall Plate – Plateelbakkerij "Deventer" (J. Bazuin) – Decor "Vogels 2" – circa 1950/1960. Beautiful and rare hand-painted polychrome ceramic wall plate, produced by Plateelbakkerij "Deventer" (under the leadership of J. Bazuin) in the mid-20th century (circa the 1950s/1960s). This impressive plate is a premium, nostalgic homage to the glory days of early Dutch Art Nouveau (Jugendstil). The front features a highly detailed, vibrant bird motif with gracefully flowing lines and stylized flora, directly inspired by the iconic designs of the world-famous Rozenburg Rozenburg (Haagsche Plateelfabriek) from the period 1900–1905. Because Plateelbakkerij "Deventer" was a relatively small postwar studio, objects from this workshop are far less widespread than the well-known Gouda majolica. This makes the plate a particularly special collectible for enthusiasts of Dutch ornamental pottery and regional craft history. Features and markings on the back: Monogram: Hand-painted elegant 'JB' monogram, the initials of founder/owner J. Bazuin. Text: Fully hand-signed with "Deventer Holland" and the decor name "Vogels 2". Marks: Equipped with a green hand-painted atelier/signature mark at the bottom. Size: Diameter about 30 cm. Condition: The plate is in a beautiful, glossy, decorative state with the natural, fine age craquelure in the glaze. Note: The plate has undergone an older restoration along the lower edge (filling of a rim chip). This professional restoration is optically very neatly integrated into the purple line pattern on the front, so the plate retains its fantastic visual and decorative appearance on the wall. On the back, the varnish of this restoration has yellowed somewhat over the years (see detail photos). No cracks or large hairlines. The piece will, of course, be packed with the utmost care and professionalism and sent by registered/insured mail.
