Plata de Ley - Manifattura spagnola - Sculpture

This splendid devotional sculpture depicts the Virgen del Pilar, the famous Our Lady of the Pillar, patroness of Zaragoza and a deep symbol of Spanish devotion. The work stands out for a harmonious fusion of materials, where the gleam of silver wonderfully dialogues with the warm hues of the natural stone. The figure of the Virgin with the Child Jesus in her arms is modeled with great delicacy and is topped by a majestic sunburst aureole, finely pierced, a visually striking element typical of traditional iconography that captures and reflects light with elegance. The statue rests on the characteristic alabaster column with soft amber veins, enriched in the center by the application of the Cross of Santiago and framed by silver filigree that is finely embossed and chased. The pillar finally rises on a solid square stone base, which still retains its original identification plaque bearing the inscription "PLATA DE LEY", ensuring the use of sterling silver.
