Pino Vastarella - Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti

Pino Vastarella was born in Rome, where he lives and works. Architect, designer, stylist, painter and photographer, over the years he has traversed many forms of creative expression: from architectural design to furnishings, from graphics to fashion, from painting to photography, from image publishing to reading performances. His path is the precise reflection of a personal history never completed and always oriented toward confronting ancient memories with new experiments. It is above all the exploration of matter—stone, marbles, jute—and of materials, often derived from everyday life, that initially pushes him to engage with an artistic form of material abstraction. The ongoing experimentation of these years makes his material path meet figurative art. Abstract forms become defined, fueling the curiosity to confront himself in a search where materials return to representations of bodies, faces, statues and especially architectures, a panorama of lived and torn reality. In this work the artist sought to capture the classical harmony that radiates from one of the world’s most famous architectures. Yet, through matter, he gives it a current, contemporary rendering, outside the usual schemes.
