Pendant Earrings with Large Tahitian Pearls and Baguette-Cut Diamonds

Tahitian pearls are among the most sought-after and luxurious pearls in the world. They are considered the epitome of luxury not only because of their size but also because of their fascinating colors. Cultivating them requires special care: they are produced exclusively in the warm, crystal-clear lagoons of French Polynesia—on atolls and archipelagos where the delicate black-lipped oyster (Pinctada margaritifera) finds ideal conditions. Only this species of oyster produces those unique, dark gray to deep black pearls. Two large Tahitian pearls, each with a diameter of approximately 14.7 to 14.8 mm, have been set in this modern pair of drop earrings. The medium-gray pearls are round in shape, with only a few growth lines and a multicolored, iridescent luster. The pearls dangle beneath a single baguette-cut diamond in a simple 18-karat white gold setting. The diamonds have a combined weight of approximately 0.46 ct. Simple ear hooks make them easy to put on. The pair was crafted in our workshop. To create them, we used vintage elements from a pearl necklace with diamonds that came to us from southern Germany.
