Pancho Porto - kids with

Bronze and steel sculpture by the Spanish sculptor Pancho Porto, edition of 25 numbered and signed pieces. Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetry at the Antonio Failde Center in Ourense. At this school he first encountered disciplines such as carving, drawing, and modeling, and, most importantly, the hands-on work in the studio. Later he enrolled in the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he began working with materials that would be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Simultaneously, Porto continued his self-directed studies and researched other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes. After this initial training phase, he decided to set up his workshop on the banks of the Sarela River, very close to the place where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual approach in his works, lending complexity and depth to his entire body of work, with themes that touch on both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
