PAIR OF GREEK BLACK-FIGURE VESSELS (AMPHORA AND LEKYTHOS)

Ca. 530 - 470 BC. A pair of black-figure vessels, from left to right: a miniature amphora with an ovoid body, paired handles and a broad disc rim, the obverse depicting Athena in a crested helmet with a round shield, and the reverse with a seated athlete holding a long race torch, with radiating tongues around the shoulder; and a tall lekythos on a spreading foot, with a cylindrical body, sloping shoulder, narrow neck and single handle, decorated with three draped figures seated on folding chairs (okladiades) and playing musical instruments.
