Pair of high-backed armchairs with profuse ornamental carving, topped with scrolls and mascarons, and arms supported by sculpted female caryatids. The claw-shaped front legs and the undulating decoration of the skirt reinforce their historicist and theatrical character. The set reflects the eclectic taste of the 19th century for reinterpreting Baroque and Renaissance models with great decorative effect.
