Otto Matzek (1878-1939) - Beethovenhaus Wien Probusgasse

The painting shows the historic interior view of the world-famous Beethoven House in Probusgasse 6 in Vienna - Heiligenstadt. Here, in 1802, Ludwig van Beethoven lived and drafted the Heiligenstadt Testament. It is an original oil painting by the Viennese painter Otto Matzek (1878 - 1939). He is regarded as an academic painter with regional significance for his artworks, regularly featured at art auctions. The oil painting on canvas in a black wooden frame with piano lacquer shows age-related signs of wear (see photos).
