Organ Pipe Coral on Vintage Brass Stand (EU bidders only)...

Tubipora musica – Organ Pipe Coral on Vintage Brass Stand A striking specimen of Tubipora musica, commonly known as Organ Pipe Coral, mounted on an elegant brass stand that gives the piece a strong decorative and almost sculptural presence. This species is immediately recognizable for its intense crimson-red calcareous skeleton, formed by countless slender parallel tubes connected by delicate transverse plates. These structures create the characteristic appearance of a miniature pipe organ, from which the species takes its common name. This particular colony shows a dense and highly architectural growth, with tightly packed tubular elements forming a broad, irregular fan-like structure. The vivid red coloration is especially striking and contrasts beautifully with the warm golden tone of the brass base. Natural irregularities, minor losses and traces of marine growth are present, as expected in a genuine coral specimen of this complexity, and are visible in the photographs. Maximum height on stand: 40.5 cm Coral dimensions: 20.5 × 18 × 9.5 cm The combination of the natural coral structure and the brass display base makes this specimen particularly suitable for a cabinet of curiosities, natural history collection or sophisticated decorative interior. CITES: IT/IM/2008/MCE/03630 Attention to bidders outside the EU: This lot requires specific cites clearance procedures to be shipped out of Italy and then imported into your country. We strongly discourage bidders outside the European Union from bidding.
