Brand: Omega Model: Constellation Reference Number: CD 168 017 SP Serial Number: 33078831 Movement: Automatic, Omega Caliber 564, 24 jewels, chronometer-certified Dial: Silver sunburst finish with applied gold-tone indices Case Size: 35mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Gold-tone, stainless steel caseback Production Year: Circa 1971 Condition: Good vintage condition. Timegrapher: -4-6s/day, performing remarkably well. Dial and Hands The exceptionally clean and well-preserved silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, displaying crisp and intact printed text with no significant spotting or moisture damage visible. Applied gold-tone indices with black inserts complement the applied Omega logo and Constellation star. The gold-tone stick hands, also featuring black inserts, are well-preserved with minor age-related oxidation and dust visible under macro inspection. The sweep seconds hand remains straight and clean. Case and Crystal The distinctive gold-tone C-shape case, featuring brushed and polished finishes, shows honest wear consistent with age while retaining good overall geometry. Moderate scratches and handling marks are present throughout the case and the smooth integrated gold-tone bezel. The stainless steel caseback bears the classic gold observatory medallion, which shows good detail along with some wear. The scalloped crown is signed with the Omega logo and shows some wear to the gold plating on the edges. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, remaining clear with some light surface scratches visible at angles, but no major cracks or chips. Movement Powering the watch is the copper-colored Omega Caliber 564, an automatic chronometer-certified movement featuring 24 jewels and adjusted to five positions and temperature. The plates and bridges are clean with minimal signs of tool marks, and the rotor is present and intact. There is no visible corrosion or significant oxidation. The timegrapher records a rate of -4-6s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with a black leather strap featuring contrast stitching. It is an attractive strap in good wearable condition, showing light wear and creasing. Condition Good vintage condition. The watch displays honest wear consistent with its age, notably moderate scratches and handling marks across the gold-tone case and bezel, as well as some wear to the gold plating on the crown edges. The silver sunburst dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved. Minor oxidation and dust are visible on the hands under close inspection. The acrylic crystal shows light surface scratches. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case measures 35mm in diameter, excluding the crown. Remarks This Constellation is notable for its highly sought-after Gerald Genta C-shape case design and its wonderfully preserved silver sunburst dial. The combination of the classic gold observatory medallion and the chronometer-certified Caliber 564 movement makes this an appealing example for the dedicated collector. History The Omega Constellation line has long been celebrated for its precision and refined design. Reference CD 168 017 SP features the distinctive C-shaped, or tonneau, case design, which was famously penned by Gerald Genta.
