Toutes les enchères / Mobilier, Design & Miroirs / Odense Møbelfabrik - Lauritz Jensen - Serving plate - Model/Vorm no. 45 - Teak
Original Danish teak serving/cocktail board by Lauritz Jensen (Laur. Jensen) Odense, marked on the underside with the characteristic LJ maker mark, number 45 and ‘ODENSE DENMARK’, ca. the 1960s. Exceptionally fine Danish Modern serving dish made of solid teak, manufactured by Lauritz Jensen from Odense, Denmark, circa the 1960s. The dish has a pronounced organic and sculptural form that is so characteristic of Danish Mid-Century design. From a single piece of solid teak, three smoothly contoured compartments are carved, which flow into each other almost like leaves or pebble shapes due to their asymmetrical outlines. On one side the wood continues into a long, integrated handle. This makes the object not only functional as a serving dish, but also gives it the appearance of a small sculptural design object. Originally intended for nuts, snacks, olives, or other small bites, it also forms a stunning decorative piece on the table. Particularly attractive is the extensive original underside marking. The dish features the incised Laur. Jensen maker mark, the indications “DENMARK” and “ODENSE” and the number “45”. In addition, the original red-white “LAUR. JENSEN – wooden wares” factory sticker is still present. A beautiful detail that clearly confirms the provenance of the object. The warm teak has a beautiful natural grain that is particularly well shown off by the various hollowed shapes. The soft curves, the solid wood, and the functional form are characteristic of the heyday of Scandinavian Modernism and Danish Modern design. Maker / designer: Lauritz Jensen Origin: Odense, Denmark Period: ca. the 1960s Material: solid teak Execution: serving/snack dish with three compartments and integrated handle Marking: L.J. 45 ODENSE DENMARK Original factory sticker: present Dimensions: approx. L 32.5 cm, W 21.2 cm, D 2.3 cm The dish is in nice vintage condition with minimal signs of use and aging appropriate to its age. The natural patina of the teak has been preserved. See the photos for a good impression of the condition. A characterful and increasingly hard-to-find piece of authentic Danish Mid-Century design, especially appealing due to the combination of the sculptural design, solid teak, clear factory markings, and the still-present original Laur. Jensen sticker. The item will be securely packaged for smart shipping, sent by registered mail and insured with tracking.
