Octavia Lempka (XIX) - Ritratto femminile - NO RESERVE

Elegant oil on canvas portrait of a young woman captured in an intense moment of contemplation, with her gaze raised upwards. The work stands out for the quality of execution, the accurate modelling of the face, the soft rendering of the flesh tones, and the balanced use of light, elements attributable to the Academic/Romantic tradition of the mid-1800s. The painting bears in the upper right a red signature legible as: "Octavia Lempka pinx." 1874 The term pinx. (abbreviation of the Latin pinxit, "painted by") was frequently used by artists in the 1800s. The work is accompanied by its elegant coeval gilded wooden frame, perfectly proportioned to the painting, which enhances its important decorative presence. Thanks to the painterly quality, the signature, the possible Central European provenance, and the elegant subject, the painting constitutes an interesting offering for both collectors and classical or contemporary interiors.
