Collection of maritime ephemera and postcards related to the Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) shipping line of Bremen, Germany, dating from the early to mid-20th century. The group includes various photographic and graphic postcards, a passenger luggage tag, and a philatelic cover. Featured vessels include the four-funnel liner Kaiser Wilhelm II, depicted in a black and white lithographic postcard, and the M.S. Berlin (formerly M.S. Gripsholm), commemorated on a 1955 first-day cover postmarked Berlin 12.3.55. A significant historical item is an oval cardstock luggage tag for the ship D. Sierra Cordoba, featuring the N.S.G. Kraft durch Freude logo. The tag is hand-inscribed for passenger Willi Roedel of Berlin, dated May 27 to June 2, 1936, and retains its original red and white twisted string. Additional cards feature the NDL house flag, the company administrative headquarters in Bremen, and a route graphic for the Bremen - Galveston service. The items are primarily printed on cardstock and paper, with many housed in individual protective plastic sleeves. Dimensions: See Desc.
