### Set of 4 large antique petrol lighters – France – Art Deco – About 1920-1940 Beautiful collection of four antique collectible petrol lighters, representative of French smoking accessories from the first half of the 20th century. These models feature an elegant tank shape with rounded contours and a lift-arm ignition mechanism, characteristic of old lighters of the “lift-arm” type. Their Art Deco aesthetic, varied finishes and period markings make this set particularly interesting for collectors. **The lot includes :** **1. Solid blue lighter – Complete** Large petrol lighter with a glossy light blue housing, paired with silver metal elements. Its upper lift-arm mechanism presents a metallic finish with a crafted shape. Well preserved overall, with some scratches, signs of age and small traces of wear on the metal parts. All parts and components are present. **2. Marbled blue lighter – Complete, filling cap blocked** Elegant model with a blue-gray marbled or pearlescent effect housing, paired with silver metal elements. Its decoration with irregular shades evokes synthetic decorative materials used on some smoking accessories of the Art Deco era. The lighter is complete, with all components present. Feature: the lower cap allowing access to the reservoir and its cotton filling is currently blocked, probably due to old deposits or slight oxidation. It has not been forced in order to preserve its condition. A suitable intervention may be necessary to unblock it, with no guarantee of result. **3. Gray patinated metal lighter – Stone holder missing** Old petrol lighter with a gray metal body, with a significant natural patina reflecting its age. It has an upper lift-arm mechanism, characteristic of lighters from this period. The main components are present, but a part of the device that receives or holds the stone is missing. The lighter is offered in this state, without restoration. **4. Brass gilded lighter – Complete** Elegant petrol model with a golden-colored body, probably brass, with a matching upper lift-arm mechanism. Its sober aesthetics and rounded lines are representative of the Art Deco style. It shows a nice old patina, a few scratches and normal handling marks. All parts and all components are present. **Markings and origin** The photographs notably show an inscription “DEP – MADE IN FRANCE”, as well as French fiscal stamps bearing the inscription “MINISTÈRE DES FINANCES”. These plates attest to the application of the old French tax on lighters and constitute an interesting historical element. Another example bears a serial number engraved on the upper part. The set is stylistically attributable to the first half of the 20th century, probably the 1920s-1940s. **Overall condition and operation** The four lighters are well preserved considering their age, with authentic patina, signs of use and some traces of oxidation. Two pieces are complete and show no particular difficulty. The blue marbled model is complete, but its lower cap is blocked. The gray model has a missing piece in the stone device. Beautiful set for enthusiasts of old French lighters, Art Deco smoking objects and interwar collectors’ accessories. Photos are an integral part of the description. The detachable mechanical parts are present and photographed separately. The lighters have been stored without petrol and without flints, to limit deterioration risks during storage. Plan to fit a flint and fill before any use.
