Type of jewel: Ruby and diamond cluster stud earrings. Condition: In well-preserved condition, especially given these earrings’ age. Style: Vintage design, each earring featuring an oval ruby bordered on one side by six diamonds and on the other by a curved yellow gold rim. Era: Circa 1990. Material: 14K yellow gold, touchstone tested. Extra information: For pierced ears, with post fittings and butterfly backs. Diamonds: Twelve round brilliant-cut diamonds with a combined estimated weight of approx. 0.18 ct. (colour and clarity: F–G, VVS–VS). Diamond weights, colour and clarity are approximate, as the stones were assessed in their settings and were not removed for grading or weighing. All diamonds in these earrings were individually tested with the Magilabs' EXA Natural Diamond Detector and identified as natural diamonds. Gemstones: Two oval faceted natural rubies with a combined estimated weight of approx. 0.36 ct. Gemstone weights are approximate, as the stones were assessed in their settings and were not removed for weighing. It is common practice for gemstones to be treated in order to improve their colour or clarity. The rubies have not been tested for such treatments. Traditional gemstone associations: Ruby is traditionally associated with July, and diamond with April. Hallmarks: No trace of hallmarks.
