Nightstand (2) - Rosewood

Pair of Louis XV-style nightstands with marble top and marquetry in bois de rose and fruitwood These bedside tables represent the elegant tradition of 18th-century French furniture, characterized by sinuous lines, refined marquetry, and marble tops. The Louis XV style, also known as Rococo, is distinguished by bombé (bulging) forms and elaborate decorations that reflect the taste for elegance and luxury of the era. The inlays in bois de rose (rosewood) and fruitwood were particularly valued for their warm and contrasting tones, creating sophisticated decorative effects typical of 18th-century French cabinetmaking. These pieces are highly sought after by antique furniture collectors and enthusiasts of classic interior design who wish to recreate authentic historic interiors. The Italian and European market shows strong interest in Louis XV-style furniture, especially when sold in pairs, as they represent an investment both aesthetically and historically. The presence of inlays in precious woods such as bois de rose and fruitwood, together with original marble tops, significantly increases their value among antiques dealers, interior decorators, and collectors of French furniture.
