Descriptio Oil on canvas. 22 cm. The work presents two figures shrouded in shadow, one female and the other hooded, walking in a somber setting dominated by blue and gray tones. The loose brushwork and the reddish highlights that accentuate the faces evoke a climate of mystery and tension. Lucas employs a gestural and expressive technique typical of late Romanticism, in which the pictorial material becomes a vehicle for emotion and drama. The influence of Goyaesque Expressionism is evident in the deformation of the faces and the symbolic use of chiaroscuro.
