Natural petrified wood set from Madagascar – Millions of...

This extraordinary set of petrified wood from Madagascar brings together three fascinating specimens that impressively showcase the remarkable connection between fossil history and mineral beauty. Over millions of years, the original wood structures were preserved through mineral processes and transformed into unique pieces of natural art. Each piece displays its own color world and grain. Warm red, orange, brown, and gold tones meet dark contrasts and fine lines that still reveal the original growth structures of the wood. The highly polished surfaces vividly highlight the natural patterns and give the pieces exceptional depth. The left specimen captivates with vibrant reds and oranges, evoking an abstract landscape. The middle piece shows a rare combination of dark, almost black areas and finely layered wood structures, which emphasize the fossil origin particularly strikingly. The right specimen combines warm red and brown hues with distinctive natural markings and offers a fascinating glimpse into the millions-year history of this fossil material. Petrified wood is among the most fascinating fossil minerals in the world. Through complete mineralization, the original wood structure is preserved while the material simultaneously gains the hardness and durability of stone. The Madagascar finds are especially valued for their extraordinary colors and excellent polishability. Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Petrified Wood Weight: 2275,81 g Size: - Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
