A pair of exceptionally extravagant & high-quality candelabra made of fire-gilded bronze •France•Paris• after the Gouthière model! These impressive candelabra stand as a exemplary testament to the high art of Parisian bronziers of the Rococo and are characterized by a particularly lively, sculptural design. The construction follows the typical, dynamic Rocaille form language, with the composition defined by finely tuned volutes, asymmetrical openings, and an elegant line flow. Of particular note are the especially masterfully sculpted female busts on the shaft, whose finely modeled facial features, softly worked hairstyles, and individual expressiveness convey remarkable liveliness. These figurative elements give the candelabra a nearly sculptural quality and are characteristic of the demanding Parisian bronze production of the period.
