Murano glass - Necklace - Kaleido Amulet

Carved entirely by hand in Murano, this large pendant is a small amulet of glass: an explosion of colors and volumes, shaped by flame layer after layer. On a base of transparent amber glass stand four large raised "eyes," cherry-red disks with pink-lilac centers, surrounded by a corona of red-orange dots. All around runs a wavy frame of yellow filaments and turquoise arches, while small taupe-gray dots speckle the background. In transmitted light, the amber glass glows with golden reflections. The pendant is mounted on a hand-tied black cord and ends with a tassel of three cords, finished with red rocailles. The necklace is made of opaque rocailles, the traditional Venetian beads, arranged in color blocks: turquoise, red, olive green, yellow, taupe-gray, and orange, echoing the tones of the pendant. Even the clasp is glass: a lamp-worked button, decorated with the same eyes and colors as the pendant, clips to an olive-green bead loop. It is a traditional and functional solution, making the jewelry beautiful to look at even from the back. The matinée length drops the pendant to chest height: perfect over a black dress or a solid-colored sweater, where the colors explode in all their intensity. Each pendant is unique: the arrangement of the eyes, the undulations, and the glass shades vary from piece to piece. Small bubbles and irregularities are the mark of artisanal workmanship, not defects. Details Technique: lamp-worked glass, with hot-applied raised decorations.
