Moses Maimonides Moses ben Maimon Sephardim Mischne Tora Mishneh Torah Verbote am Jom Kippur & am Schabbat Córdoba, around 1320-1380 Goldfarbenen Reh-Haut (Damwild-Hirsch) -Hilchot Yesodei ha-Torah (Hebrew הִלְכּוֹת יְסוֹדי התורה; Laws on the Principles of the Torah) -Hilchot De'ot (Hebrew הִלְכּוֹת דְּעוֹת; Laws of Philosophy) -Hilchot Talmud Torah (Hebrew הִלְכּוֹת תלמוד תורה; Laws on Talmudic study) -Hilchot Avodah Sara we-Chukot ha-Goyim, Laws on the prohibition of idolatry -Hilchot T'shuva (Hebrew הִלְכּוֹת תְּשׁוּבָה; Laws on repentance) In 1180 Mischne Torah appeared ('Repeating the Law'), a revision of rabbinic legal interpretation in 14 volumes, which organized Mishnah and Torah in strictly logical order. The work was, among other things, heavily criticized by Rabbi Abraham ben David of Posquières, which, also in connection with controversies surrounding his philosophical-religious stance, led to the Maimonides dispute. Nevertheless, Maimonides is regarded as the absolute authority in the field of religious-law literature. In contrast to Maimonides’ other major works, which were written in Arabic, Mischne Torah is originally written in Hebrew. * Old Hebrew manuscript * Rare and precious mulberry ink * preserved and restored with beeswax * Use of the Old Hebrew letters "Pai" and "Zai" * about 700-year-old manuscript on real deer skin (stag hide) Content: "Guide for the Indecisive" The Guide for the Indecisive also spread in Europe in the 13th century and, despite initial attempts at prohibition, became one of the central writings in religious and philosophical debates. In particular, Thomas Aquinas critically engaged with it and developed his theory of analogy partly in response to the negative theology of the Dux neutrorum. More favorable reception earlier came from Albertus Magnus, later Meister Eckhart and Nikolaus von Kues. Spinoza also engages with it mostly critically. In the 18th century Moses Mendelssohn and especially Salomon Maimon drew on Maimonides’ work to establish a modern Judaism in the spirit of the Enlightenment. Among the many thinkers influenced by Maimonides in the 19th and 20th centuries are for example Hermann Cohen with his neo-Kantian ethical interpretation and Leo Strauss, whose interpretation of Maimonides posited a hidden radical textual intention and is today usually viewed critically. Beautiful and absolutely rare manuscript of the Mishneh Torah Mishneh Torah on the prohibitions on Yom Kippur & Shabbat. Precious Torah manuscript on gold-colored deer-hide (stag) from Córdoba, circa 1320-1380. I guarantee the age and originality.
