North Africa, Upper Cretaceous, ca. 80 to 66 million years ago. A fossilized mosasaur skull with articulated jaws and teeth, likely from a juvenile individual. The elongated snout and hinged jaws are lined with conical teeth, with additional pterygoid teeth visible along the palate that aided in gripping prey. During the Late Cretaceous, mosasaurs achieved a broad global distribution across ancient oceans and inland seaways.
