Moonlight Lowers by Gabriele Esau Painting 11.8 x 19.7 :: Two moths Luna moths strive towards the moonlight. The work shows two moths with the name Luna moth. The name of this now rare insect is attributed both to its nocturnal activity and to the crescent moon in the eyespot of its wings. Luna moths are considered a symbol of love. They are supposed to remind the observer to love to the full and enjoy every day. The symbolism is supported by the kissing mouth shape of the moon which they fly towards.
