We present at auction the undisputed flagship of the Hamburg house, the true masterpiece in the history of luxury writing signed Montblanc: the majestic Meisterstück 149 fountain pen. This model, famous for its cigar-shaped imposing dimensions and superb balance, represents a timeless icon of elegance, ideal for those seeking absolute excellence, prestige, and an unparalleled stage presence on their desk. The body and the massive cap are masterfully crafted in the traditional and precious black Montblanc resin, characterized by a deep, flawless shine. The imposing design is enhanced by the classic bright gold-plated finishes, with the characteristic drop clip, the triple central band finely engraved with the brand name, and the indispensable emblem of the pristine six-point white star that dominates the majestic summit of the cap. The beating heart of this extraordinary instrument is the gigantic and magnificent solid gold two-tone nib, finely hand-engraved with the maison’s traditional motifs and the famous number 4810. The pen is equipped with the historic and efficient piston-filling system, paired with the distinctive striped transparent ink-window for convenient, immediate monitoring of ink level. The mechanical components, the feed, and the nib block are perfectly clean and intact. The conservation state of this exemplar is to be considered in excellent overall condition. The instrument presents a solid structure, a fluid piston mechanism, a splendid resin polish, and bright gold plating. In line with our usual and rigorous policy of total transparency, only microscopic and physiological signs of handling due to extremely careful and respectful use are noted, which in no way compromise the extraordinary beauty or the perfect mechanical functionality of the piece. No personalized engravings are observed.
