Minton Bicentenary Paris Exhibition Porcelain Amphora Vase and Plinth

Minton fine bone china bicentenary reproduction vase, based on the original John Moyr Smith designs for the 1878 Paris Exhibition. The twin-handled amphora form features a central frieze with classical vignettes in the Aesthetic Movement style, titled in Greek-style script, and finished with extensive 22 karat gold hand-gilded accents and hand-painted motifs. The underside bears a detailed gold inscription identifying it as Minton Bicentenary 1793-1993, the Paris Exhibition Vase of 1878, a facsimile reproduction hand-crafted in English fine china and individually hand-painted and hand-gilded in 22 karat gold by Minton artists, copyright 1992 Royal Doulton 5. The vase is accompanied by a separate square cobalt blue and gold porcelain display plinth with an inset commemorative porcelain disc.
