Please consult the original photographs to verify the actual condition of the work.” This oil on canvas work is an expressive portrait with cubist and Fauvist influences that portrays an elegant, seated woman in a red armchair with a cat on her lap, inspired by Pablo Picasso’s iconic female representations. The scene stands out for its language of bold black outlines and a geometric fragmentation of the face into two-tone blue and violet planes. The color palette, characterized by high saturation and contrast, juxtaposes the greens and blues of the attire with the intense reds and purples of the background and furniture. The broad, thick, gestural brushwork provides rich texture to the surface, balancing the contemplative sobriety of the human figure with the chromatic vitality of the surroundings and the still life of flowers glimpsed in the upper right corner.
