Mighty Jaxx - Toy figurine Dissected Popek – Space Grey...

Step into a fascinating meeting of two of the most recognisable names in contemporary art toys with this Dissected Popek – Space Grey Edition, a collaboration between Whatshisname, the London-based artist behind the cheeky “Popek” balloon dog, and Jason Freeny, the New York artist world-famous for his anatomical “dissections” of iconic toys. Released by Mighty Jaxx in 2021, this piece fuses Whatshisname’s irreverent pop art with Freeny’s signature half-anatomy style, creating something that is equal parts playful, surreal and technically impressive. The figure shows the Popek balloon dog in its famous squatting pose, with one side left smooth and perfectly “inflated”, while the other side is cut away to reveal a meticulously sculpted skeleton inside. Every bone is rendered in detail, from the jagged teeth and skull to the spine, ribcage and leg joints, all finished in a sleek metallic space grey that contrasts beautifully with the matte black interior. Turn it around and it looks like a classic balloon dog; turn it back and the illusion is broken in the most striking way. The little balloon “Popek” piece, the signature joke of the series, completes the scene. This is an official Mighty Jaxx Originals release and comes as a complete set, with the original foil-printed box, the Mighty Jaxx Certificate of Authenticity (black and gold), and the care card. The box also carries its original holographic Mighty Jaxx authenticity sticker. The figure has been displayed indoors, handled with care, and shows no chips, scratches or paint defects. The box is in very good condition. A standout piece for any designer toy collector, balloon dog fan, or admirer of Jason Freeny’s anatomical art.
