Meissen porcelain plate with Chinoiserie bird decoration – Knauf period (circa 1880–1910) Origin: Germany, Saxony, Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. Dating: Knauf period (circa 1860–1924, stylistically circa 1880–1910). Quality: 1st quality (first choice; no glaze lines from the mark). Shape / Model: Round plate form with a finely notched edge (Neuer Ausschnitt). Decoration: Entirely hand-painted in deep cobalt blue underglaze. Central a detailed Chinoiserie scene of a bird on flowering branches. The mirror field is surrounded by a geometric braid frieze (Gitterfries), flanked by stylized flower and leaf motifs on the rim. Back marks: Under-glaze blue crossed swords with round knobs (Knaufschwerter). Painter/decorator number 64 in under-glaze blue near the foot ring. Blind-impressed model/mold number in the body (approx. 90). Dimensions: Diameter 24.5 cm. Condition: Excellent condition; the glaze is bright and intact, without crazing, rim chips (fleabites) or restorations.
