Mego Corp - Toy robot 2-XL - 1970-1980 - Taiwan

Famous educational robot 2-XL, produced by Mego Corporation in 1978. This model represents one of the earliest smart toys in history, equipped with an internal Stereo 8 (8-track) cartridge reader that allowed the robot to interact with the user through a multiple-choice quiz system. The offered specimen stands out for being the rare Italian-market localized version. The front panel bears the command labels entirely in Italian: "DOMANDE", "A - SÌ VERO", "B - RICHIESTA DI INFORMAZIONI." and "C - NO FALSO". Condition and status of the item: • Aesthetics: Overall cosmetic condition is good considering the toy's age (almost 50 years). The plastics of the chassis are intact, with no cracks or obvious breaks. Normal signs of wear and usage are noted. The four red buttons and the side power/volume knob respond correctly to pressure and mechanical movement. • Functionality: The robot is sold in a "untested" condition (not verified). Not having the original power supply nor the dedicated Stereo 8 cartridges, it was not possible to perform a power-on or audio playback test. • Included accessories: None. The lot consists exclusively of the robot visible in the photo. Power supply and tapes not included.

Estimation:€150
