MEDIEVAL STONE HIGH RELIEF DEPICTING WORKER WITH HAMMER

Ca. AD 1200 - 1300. A carved stone relief depicting a male figure turning his head to the left, with a hammer resting across his right shoulder. He wears a broad-brimmed hat decorated with incised geometric patterns, with shoulder-length hair falling beneath it. His upper body is bare, with the left arm bent to support the hammer. A belt encircles the waist above a short garment, with deeply carved folds of drapery behind the figure. Size: 260mm x 170mm; Weight: 2.17kg Provenance: From a private British collection; ex I.H. collection, assembled since the 1970s.
