An exquisite medieval pectoral cross with deep archaic symbolism.At the center of the cross is a square shield with a distinctive oblique cross (symbolic of St. Andrew's Cross and the four cardinal directions). The ends of the rays are decorated with disc-shaped caps featuring a clearly defined concentric pattern ("solar" circles). The expressive geometry of the design is combined with a refined, smooth patina of a deep green color. A striking example of early Christian jewelry art with pagan solar motifs.
