Wide shoulders, plain ring band. -> The palm branch was used by the crusaders of the Holy Land as a symbol of victory of the faithful over the enemies of the soul. Outside diameter: ± 25,4 mm Inside diameter: ± 20,9 - 19,7 mm Bezel: ± 14,9 x 15,4 mm Condition: good and solid condition, wearable. The surface shows a very appealing smooth and dark olive-green patina. Some areas of earthen encrustations and surface wear, consistent with age and use. The Star of Bethlehem was a popular symbol to adorn rings, jewellery and amulets of early Christians. It was especially popular during the Crusader period when the faithful Christians undertook military expeditions to expel the Muslims from the Holy Land. To the present day Christians wear crosses and sacred pendants close to their hearts as tangible signs of their faith and Gods presence in their lives.
