Maya Zhulidova - The Morning Wind

“The Morning Wind” — The Morning Wind Artist: Mayya Zhulidova Dimensions: 50 × 50 cm Canvas thickness: 4 cm Medium: Oil on canvas, spatula Year: 2023 Style: Contemporary impressionism, landscape painting Description of the work “The Morning Wind” is a celebration of movement, freedom, and the poetry hidden in the small moments of everyday life. Inspired by the mornings of Barcelona, Mayya Zhulidova captures that fleeting moment when a gust of wind crosses the streets, sways the branches of the plane trees, and sheds their leaves, transforming an ordinary urban landscape into a scene full of life and emotion. At the center of the composition, a majestic tree stretches its branches toward a bright blue sky. Its golden leaves seem to dance suspended in the air, creating a sense of lightness, motion, and freedom. The artist uses the spatula to build a surface rich in textures and reliefs, where ochre, greens, and golds contrast with the intensity of sky blue. Each painterly gesture conveys the energy of the wind and the vitality of nature. Beyond the depiction of a tree, the work invites reflection on the beauty of the ephemeral. The leaves shedding symbolize the passage of time, transformation, and the capacity to accept change as an essential part of life. Through her impressionist language, Mayya Zhulidova turns a simple everyday scene into a sensory experience that almost allows us to hear the whisper of the leaves, feel the breeze on the skin, and breathe the fresh morning air. “The Morning Wind” reminds us that nature continues to express itself even in the heart of the city. An invitation to pause, observe, and discover the beauty of those small moments that, though fleeting, remain in our memory.
