HISTORY AND DETAILS OF THE INCLUDED MODELS: This lot brings together two crucial years in Gilles Villeneuve’s career and two of the most fantastic creations by the genius engineer Mauro Forghieri. 1. Ferrari 312 T2 (No. 21) – Canadian Grand Prix 1977 (Reference T6270) • The real car (1977): This historic model immortalizes Gilles Villeneuve’s very first Grand Prix behind the wheel of a Scuderia Ferrari single-seater, at home in Canada (Mosport). • Mechanical & Technical: Evolution of the 1975 world champion, the 312 T2 is characterized by its lateral NACA-type air intakes integrated into the cockpit to meet the new regulations. It houses the melodic Ferrari Tipo 015 flat-12 engine of 2,991 cm³ developing 500 horsepower at 12,200 rpm, paired with the famous transverse gearbox that gave the “T” to its lineage. 2. Ferrari 312 T3 (No. 12) – Canadian Grand Prix 1978 (Reference T6272): • The real car (1978): Certainly one of the most symbolic Ferraris in history. It was behind the wheel of this machine, on the Île Notre-Dame circuit in Montreal (which bears his name today), that Gilles Villeneuve scored his very first Formula 1 Grand Prix victory. • Mechanical & Technical: Featuring a completely new monocoque chassis designed specifically to exploit the radial structures of the new Michelin tires, the 312 T3 presents a much more flattened body lines to maximise air flow to the rear wing.
