ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY Marguerite Gribi Kreutzberg was an American painter and muralist born in Elgin, Illinois, in 1880. She carried out much of her artistic activity in the Chicago area and stood out especially for easel painting, portrait, landscape, and mural painting. askART She was a pupil of the renowned American painter William Penhallow Henderson and was linked to the Chicago Art Academy. Her career achieved a certain recognition in the city’s art scene, even exhibiting at the Art Institute of Chicago. Historical documentation from the Institute itself confirms her participation in exhibitions: works of hers appear titled Saracen House, Harbor, Palermo, Palazzo, Palermo, Pink Mosque and Shoemakers, Taormina, executed in pastel. askART Her production shows a special interest in landscapes, urban scenes, portraits, and views made during her travels.
