Marco Ercoli - Electric Field #4 - XL

Electric Field #4 — 2026 Colored cardboard cut into modules and pasted onto prepared wooden board, with a back frame to create a wall-suspension effect. Diameter: 100 cm With Electric Field #4, Marco Ercoli continues his research into chromatic vibrations through a circular composition built for layering, rhythms and visual tensions. The circular composition, one meter in diameter, is constructed through a dense succession of colored cardboard modules, cut and manually applied to the wooden surface. Their arrangement generates a vibrant texture that seems to expand, contract and rotate around the center. The image is therefore not stationary: it changes continuously depending on distance, viewing angle and light incidence. Fields of blue, turquoise, green, red, yellow and more neutral tones meet and cross, creating true chromatic vibrations. Color is not used to describe a recognizable form, but becomes itself a structure, energy and movement. Hence the title Electric Field: the surface seems to behave like a field traversed by invisible forces, in which every chromatic variation influences the next. The particular working of the cardboard also introduces a strong tactile component. The repetition of the small elements produces an almost kinetic surface, suspended between painting, collage and relief, capable of perceptual modification as the viewer moves in front of the work. With this series, Ercoli’s research progressively sheds narrative and figure to focus on the fundamental elements of the visual language: color, rhythm, repetition, light and space. The essence does not coincide, however, with a reduction of the experience, but with the attempt to establish a more immediate relationship with the viewer. Electric Field #4 therefore does not propose an image to be interpreted in a single way, but a perceptual experience: a chromatic field in which the gaze is invited to get lost, following trajectories, contrasts and pulsations that seem to continue beyond the very boundaries of the work. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
