Magnifique - Sculpture - idiom - Nigeria (No reserve price)

a female figure seated on a circular stool, her monumental bearing heightened by the dignity of the pose—hands on the knees, back straight, breasts and navel projected forward—and by the force of the expression. Feminine beauty is exalted by the richness of the adornment: face covered with kaolin, crest-like coiffure, network of scarifications enhanced with polychromy, neck and ear ornaments. Passed down from generation to generation, this rare lineage statue asserts itself as one of the most archaic witnesses to the great Idoma statuary.
