He is seated in a rocky landscape, wrapped in a deep red mantle that contrasts with the dark, somber background. The muscular torso is bare, and his hands are joined on his chest in a gesture of profound emotion. To his right, on a supporting ledge, lie a crucifix, an open book, and a skull. Above him, a trumpet — a symbol of the Last Judgment — appears as if sounding from the sky.
