Luxurious Vintage Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Ring, c. 1960s

Jewellery of the 1960s usually focused entirely on the beauty and luxury of precious gemstones. The colour of the time was sparkling white, like the stars – often combined with blue, like the night sky. Occasionally, other coloured stones in primary colours are found alongside sapphires, but it is above all the cool sparkle of these gemstones, combined with white gold, that makes the jewels of this period so appealing. A precious sapphire is also the centerpiece of this ring. The natural stone weighing 2.00 ct shines in a deep blue. It is framed by 16 white diamonds and varies the classic pattern of the entourage ring. Typical for the time when the design was created, not only brilliant-cut diamonds are chosen, but also marquise-cut stones are set around the sapphire. The design is thus less round and smooth than the jewellery of earlier eras, but rather powerful and individual, even futuristic. The high-quality gemstones are set in high-carat white gold. The designer has mounted the stones on different levels, almost stacking them on top of each other, so that the ring actually sits on the finger like a modern sculpture. This may seem a little opulent, but it only enhances the magnificent, luxurious effect of the ring. After all, the ring is not everyday jewellery, but a statement piece to be worn on special occasions – in moments that make you forget everyday life. In order to have the quality of the materials independently tested, we have commissioned a gemological appraisal from the German Gemstone Appraisal Society in Idar-Oberstein. The certificate is supplied with the ring.
