Drawing attributed to the Spanish painter and draftsman Luís Paret y Alcázar (1746-1799) on laid paper with a watermark in the upper right corner. A seated water-nymph or river goddess holds a large vase from which water flows. At her feet lies the trident, referring to the sea god Neptune. Signed lower right: Luis Paret y Alcazar. The signature was probably added later! The drawing is framed and fitted with non-reflective glass (museum glass). The drawing has some brown stains and at the bottom two holes (see photos). Luís Paret y Alcázar is regarded as an important painter of Spanish Rococo. He was born in Madrid in the same year as his fellow countryman Goya. His work hangs in many museums including the Museo del Prado in Madrid. The silver-colored frame measures 39x31 cm. The dimensions inside the mat are 24x17 cm.
