Luigi Raimondi Seveso (1895) - Ritratto di nobildonna

Luigi Raimondi Seveso (1895) - Preparatory study for a female portrait - Oil on panel - 1930s Fascinating oil painting on a small panel measuring 60x50 cm, by Lombard painter Luigi Raimondi Seveso (1895), most likely executed in Legnano. The work presents the strong, vibrant intensity typical of a preparatory study or life sketch. The color application is rapid, material, and "free-flowing," characterized by broad, full-bodied brushstrokes that build the volumes with extraordinary freshness. The artist focuses on the chromatic and luministic rendering of the ample dress in greens and blues, leaving the background suggested in a geometric way, an element that gives the painting expressive modernity typical of Italian Twentieth Century figurative research. On the back of the wooden panel there are historical atelier inscriptions identifying the author, the place of execution (Legnano), and genealogical details of the noblewoman who posed for the work. The work is in generally good conservational condition, with normal signs of time consistent with the period. Brief biography of the artist: Luigi Raimondi Seveso (born 1895) was an Italian painter active mainly in Lombardy, with a studio in Legnano. A representative of the solid Lombard figurative tradition, he managed to fuse the great classical portraiture with the new stylistic tendencies of his time. In 1928 he was admitted as a member and participated in the exhibitions of the prestigious Società per le Belle Arti ed Esposizione Permanente of Milan, a fundamental showcase for the most important artists of the interwar period. His production, particularly valued in portraits and figure scenes, is distinguished by the solidity of the line and the skilful use of light. Technical details: • Author: Luigi Raimondi Seveso (1895) • Era: 1930s • Technique: Oil on panel • Dimensions: 60 x 50 cm • Condition: Good (see photo for details and for the historical inscriptions on the back)
