Lucienne de Meiffren - La descente vers le lac

Lucienne de Meiffren (1895-1995) is a sophisticated pseudonym behind which hides an American artist from a well-to-do Philadelphia family who frequented the Paris salons of the Roaring Twenties. Her real name was Jacqueline Beam, but she preferred to pass herself off as a French artist to boost the sales of her paintings in the United States. She was close to the painter Georges Dargouge, whom she accompanied on his travels in France and around the world. She died in 1995 in Paris, largely forgotten. Lucienne de Meiffren is one of the 20th-century female artists whose work deserves to be rediscovered. This remarkable oil on panel is nicely framed. Frame dimensions: height 50 cm, width 42 cm, depth 5 cm.
