Lot of French posters and graphic documents – counter-culture, press and social movements – 1960s-1970s Important lot of French posters, placards, leaflets and graphic documents, mainly dating from the 1960s-1970s. A very varied collection consisting of documents of different formats, ranging from small sheets and illustrated leaflets to large posters, the largest measuring about 90 × 61 cm. The lot has particular historical interest for the history of French counter-culture and social movements in the early 1970s, with several documents from the protest milieu after May ’68. Among them are several pieces related to the Front de Libération des Jeunes (FLJ) and youth movements of that period, as well as documents devoted to prisons, individual liberties, social movements and the various forms of political and cultural protest. Among the notable pieces is the poster: “Les flics et les assassins ont fait le choix de la violence” – Front de Libération des Jeunes, a characteristic document of French militant graphic production from the early 1970s. The lot also includes several illustrated and satirical compositions, notably “Halte au terrorisme intellectuel,” as well as various leaflets and posters related to protest movements and youth. The collection is completed by several large French posters from popular press, notably tied to France Dimanche and Détective, featuring the spectacular typography and photographic compositions characteristic of 1960s-1970s press. Also present are various graphic documents, drawings and printed compositions. Some pieces feature annotations, drawings, handwritten interventions or painted elements, which enhances the singular and documentary nature of the collection. The lot is sold in its entirety as presented in the photographs. Maximum dimensions: about 90 × 61 cm. Other documents have varying dimensions. Condition: generally variable due to age and nature of these documents. Presence of pieces with old folds, yellowing paper, small tears, marks, stains and signs of handling or storage. Some posters have been kept folded. The photographs allow precise appraisal of the condition of each item and are an integral part of the description. Particularly interesting for a collector of vintage posters, political and social documents, French counter-culture, 1960s-1970s graphic design or archives related to post-May 1968."
