Le Yack - Carlton Grand Hotel - Hand signed

The valet takes the luggage to the revolving door. She, she does not follow. Wrapped in a gray silk cape, long gloves, a pearl headband, she looks over her shoulder at something no one else has seen. A seaside palace, a white car still warm, a perfect arrival — and that gaze that delays everything. In grand hotels, people come and go, and nothing ever happens. Except here, perhaps. Ivory-white facade and lilac shadows, very bright, almost no black. The silk of the cape is the showpiece: deep folds, pearly reflections laid on a paste. Chrome on the car in sharp, dry touches.
