Larimar is found in only one place in the world: the Bahoruco Mountains in the Dominican Republic. Rediscovered in 1916 by a local priest, it was long forgotten before being named in 1974 by a Dominican artisan, who combined his daughter Larissa’s name with the word “mar,” the sea. Its sky-blue and turquoise hues, streaked with white like foam, earned it the nickname “Caribbean stone.” In lithotherapy, Larimar is associated with calm, serenity, and gentleness. It is also attributed a link with the throat and heart chakras, favoring expression and communication. Rhodium plating is a thin layer of rhodium, a precious metal in the platinum family.
